Poštovská

The story of our house

At first it was Ztracená, then Můstek and eventually Poštovská; one of the most frequented streets in the center of Brno was renamed by the town 126 years ago owing to the tradition of this institution. The name survived wars and communism, when the list of streets resembled rather a list of politic names. Mailmen held office in the house at Poštovská street number 3 for 138 years, but now it has changed!

Did you know that…?

  • The house was built within five months in the place of a famous pub called U tří knížat (By three princes)
  • Significant persons spent the night in this pub – for instance in 1799, the daughter of the French king Louis XIV Marie-Thérèse Charlotte
  • over here In the same year, in which the building at Poštovská street grew (1874), officers started to work there
  • In February 2012, Czech post cancelled the branch office and partially moved the services and employees to Orlí street and partially to a branch office next to the main railway station
  • Since 2015, the building has been administered by the company RC EUROPE
